Voices from wartime Ardingly is an oral history project. It was run by Ardingly College Archive in 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
We set out to document the experiences of pupils who were at Ardingly during the war and add their voices – literally – to the record.
We interviewed five Old Ardinians – then aged 9 to 18, now 89 to 98 – and received written contributions from others. You can listen to audio clips and read the written recollections below: these are the voices from wartime Ardingly.
