The last week of term was Life Skills Week at Ardingly!

Prep School students were encouraged to engage in a myriad of activities this week. Year 5 designed, bought and cooked a three-course meal, whilst Years 3 and 4 took part in some relaxing yoga sessions as well as participating in speaking and listening sessions to improve critical communication skills. Year 6 engaged in box fit sessions to improve fitness, in addition to valuable money management sessions, and year 3 took part in French experience sessions, as well as forest school.

But that is not all, prep school pupils also took park in off-site voluntary work at a local care home, further culinary sessions and maintenance skills sessions. Exciting physics workshops provided an opportunity to expand their knowledge of rockets and flight, whilst map reading sessions facilitated the progression of essential navigation skills. We also held bring your pet to school sessions, where the pupils learnt all about different animals and how to care for them.

The development of life skills is a crucial aspect of the educational experience in the Prep School. Recognizing the importance of preparing students for their future beyond academia, the college places a strong emphasis on cultivating essential life skills alongside academic achievement. Whether it’s through engaging in extracurricular activities, participating in leadership roles, or taking part in community service initiatives, students are actively encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and acquire practical skills that will benefit them in various aspects of their lives.
