A great night, which provided an opportunity for fellow Mertens parents to get to know each other and enjoy an evening of delicious food. For the parents of Shell, it was the first time they have experienced the wonderful house spirit.
Mertens’ prefects made sure that all hands were on deck for preparations. This included writing the seating plan, creating the name places, decorating the dining hall and setting the tables.
Speeches were made by Housemaster and Head of House, and the poetry slam competition winners showcased their pieces to the parents, staff and students. A starter of delicious prawns, main of chicken, and dessert of chocolate torte was prepared by our fantastic catering department and served by boys from the whole house. We ended the evening with the super Mertens band playing three numbers.
