China Trip

China Trip 2017Students from the Lower Sixth took part in the week long adventure which included all the important cultural sites including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Hutong courtyard housing and the obligatory rickshaw ride.  Students also learned about Chinese business, by visiting the financial district of Shanghai, including the Pearl Tower (the tallest building in china), with its glass bottomed viewing gallery!  They also had the chance to visit a car factory which was a joint venture between VW and a Chinese brand ‘Saic’.

The highlight of the trip though was a visit to a fantastic Chinese school in the heart of Beijing. Ardingly students were paired with Chinese students and they took part in joint presentations about festivals in both China and The West.  This celebrated the fact that our visit coincided with the Chinese Tomb Sweeping festival, where families remember their ancestors by tidying their tombs and burning offerings of money.
