We are proud of our boarding offer, which was designated a “significant strength” (the highest accolade available under the new Inspection framework) by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in June 2024.

Every weekend, between 150 and 200 boarders enjoy a vibrant and welcoming community on campus. There’s always a wide range of activities on offer, access to the College’s excellent sports and performing arts facilities, and regular socials for all boarders.

On Saturdays during the daytime, pupils can enjoy sports fixtures, take the shuttle bus into the nearby town of Haywards Heath, or catch a short train ride to Brighton for shopping.

There are also plenty of in-house activities, including our Saturday Matrons Programme, which offers creative sessions such as cooking and craft projects.

In the evening, everyone comes together for a relaxed and social event.

On Sundays there is the option of a later start, with a relaxed brunch, as well as a range of optional fun trips to places such as the cinema, a local trampoline park or Thorpe Park.

Throughout the weekend students can also make use of the on-site facilities such as the gym, sports hall, tennis courts, dance studio, and music school. There’s something for everyone.

“The weekend activities programme is varied and encourages pupils to develop their skills further.”
ISI Inspection Report, June 2024
“This international contingent makes full-boarding very lively, and the campus is bursting with activity at weekends.”
Tatler’s Schools Review, 2023

Boarding houses

Every boarder lives in one of our modern and purpose-built boarding houses, which becomes their ‘home from home’ at Ardingly.
