Life in Lower School is quite different to Prep School with you being thrown into a different community and lifestyle. I like to think of Lower School as a bridge from Prep to Senior, Lower school; a path from one part of the school to another. Lower School is an exciting time at Ardingly because of its new existence and extra things that come with it: New responsibility, house events, longer break, Café, your own space and common room to be in, and so much more.
Lower School consists of 4 houses named after old Ardinians who have helped and contributed to Ardingly. Hamilton, Shaw, Thorne, and Drake. The structure is very different to prep school as the lessons are different, break times, Café, and Prep. Lower School above the Alcove and year 3 classrooms. There is a common room, Work spaces, chill out rooms and lot’s of places to spend time together. The common room creates a big sense of community because everyone is together a lot of the time so there is more friendships between year 7&8.
The level of responsibility is a lot bigger than Prep School. Having to sign in at Lunch everyday without fail and doing your Prep regularly is quite a big ask. But That responsibility comes with great rewards and your given a lot of freedom.
