Schola Cantorum album
BUY NOW £12
Sing Joyfully celebrates 150 years of education – and music making – at Ardingly College with an ethereal selection of contemporary choral music.
Sung by the talented musicians of Ardingly’s Schola Cantorum, the album was recorded in the College’s Chapel. Sing Joyfully journeys through a liturgical and academic year at Ardingly with Advent Antiphons and Carols, emotive works for Remembrance, Eucharistic settings, Lenten Anthems and more. The final piece – and title work of the album – was commissioned as a work fitting of the College’s milestone anniversary and composed by David Bednall, who also accompanied the Schola for this commemorative recording.
Initially due for release in 2020, the album was eventually recorded in 2021 following the many disruptions pupils and young musicians around the globe experienced as a result of the pandemic. Fittingly, Sing Joyfully takes on new meaning as we honour all that has been overcome and celebrate a brighter future where music, especially singing, can enrich our lives once again.
