English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The aim of the EAL Department is to help students develop the English language skills needed to succeed at College and in the wider social and professional environment.

Through an initial testing process, we aim to identify those students who require specific linguistic support and then monitor them throughout their schooling, incorporating regular assessment. Students can take the IGCSE in English as a Second Language at the end of Year 11 and the IELTS examination in the Sixth Form for entry into university, if required. We aim to provide students with constructive, specific and detailed feedback in order for them to understand their strengths and weaknesses and how they can most effectively improve. We maintain dialogue with respective departments, particularly with the English Department, to support students throughout their GCSE course and A Level or IB courses. Additional tuition charges apply.
