At Ardingly College our Chapel stands at the heart of community life, and our Chaplain plays a key role in supporting every member of our school family — students, staff and parents alike. Originally founded by the Reverend Nathaniel Woodard nearly 170 years ago, our Christian foundation remains meaningful today, but it is expressed in a way that honours and welcomes students of all faiths and none.

Weekly chapel services take place through the year; students attend together for broadly Christian worship, alternating between Holy Communion and non-communion formats that invite connection, reflection and community. The Chapel is more than a building — it is a space where our values of care, integrity and wonder are lived out, where pupils gather, reflect and develop spiritually, morally and socially.

Inside the architecture of our historic Chapel you’ll find echoes of tradition alongside a modern, open-minded approach: we aim to nurture each individual’s sense of purpose, belonging and responsibility. Whether through services, reflection sessions, community celebrations or one-to-one conversations, our Chapel and Chaplain support the holistic formation of young people, preparing them not just academically but for life as conscientious, thoughtful and socially aware citizens.

Our Chaplain

Our Chaplain is the Reverend Andy Nicholson – universally referred to as ‘Rev Andy’. His role is to be available for the whole community – students, staff and parents – in developing spirituality and Christian growth wherever they may be on that journey.
