Advantages of Being a Through School

Seamless Transition and use of college facilities for all students

Ardingly College caters for children from two years old through to Sixth Form. As they move through the College, there is a consistency of teaching approach, shared use of facilities, familiarity of staff, common values and aims. These common factors, plus close collaboration of staff, enables a seamless transition from one area of the school to another.

The older students interact with younger pupils on a daily basis, which creates an atmosphere of respect and tolerance between the differing ages. There are also opportunities for students to benefit from each other’s company. For example, Sixth Form students gain experience for their university application or towards CAS points when they assist Prep pupils with their French speaking.

Ardingly College benefits from acres of land and wooded areas which are home to playing fields, Forest School and sports facilities including an indoor pool. All of these are available for use by all pupils in the College. Our busy Catering Department prepare fresh meals three times a day for the whole of the College.

“Every day I walked out on to the Terrace to look at the view with friends. Sometimes we would talk about what we would become in the future. Everything I have achieved was started here at Ardingly.” Ian Hislop, OA
