We are proud of our pupils’ academic achievements. Children are assessed informally and formally on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are reaching their individual academic potential and that they are receiving the necessary academic stretch and challenge, as well as any additional support they might need.

“Pupils experience a broad curriculum and achieve well due to the high quality teaching they receive... Pupils achieve well in mathematics and develop advanced linguistic skills”

Achieving Their Full Academic Potential

One of the key advantages of being a through school is we don’t have to ‘teach to the test’ in Years 5 and 6, with our pupils instead enjoying a much broader and richer curriculum in those year groups. All children at Ardingly Prep do take the entrance assessment to our Senior School in Year 6 and we use the results of these assessments for benchmarking and setting purposes only, as our Prep pupils will already be assured of their place in the Senior School.

We were delighted that, in last year’s Senior School assessments, our own Year 6 pupils out-performed cohorts from 20 other feeder schools and achieved over 80% of the scholarships on offer to the Senior School.

“There’s a lot of emphasis on reading and the school follows the Read Write Inc programme, which has really helped children to progress.”
