We Will Rock You – Prep School Drama Production

The Prep School Production of WE WILL ROCK YOU! was a full-length musical, brimming with gags and references to Rock Culture. Based on the Ben Elton show and full of Queen songs, most of the jokes had to be explained to the cast and crew – all 65 of them – currently studying in Year 7 and 8. The children had been building up to the show since September 2019, with weekly rehearsals throughout the Michaelmas term. So, when it came to the start of February, and the production arrived at the Chequer Mead Theatre, the students were raring to go and excited about being able to perform in front of an audience.

The show went above and beyond expectations. The children were determined to put on the show of their lives – and that is exactly what they did. With the support of the most spectacular set and magnificent costumes, make up, lights, choreography and live music, We Will Rock You turned into the best show Ardingly College has ever performed.

With too many highlights to mention, each scene took us higher and higher into the realms of the utterly incredible! Anyone lucky enough to watch it came out of the auditorium smiling from cheek to cheek, full of praise and disbelief that this could have been a Prep School production. The joy the children brought was incredibly infectious and is proof of the magic of live theatre.
