Encouraging and Inspiring Players and Vocalists
Music is a key element of education at Ardingly College and we maintain a proud and flourishing tradition of musical excellence.
Our aim is to encourage and inspire pupils of all musical abilities. We have a professionally equipped, purpose-built Music School, including a recital room and music technology studio.
Whether in harp, trumpet, voice or electric guitar, learning a mix of contemporary and classical pieces, hundreds of singing and instrumental lessons are taught each week by 30 outstanding specialist musicians, ultimately working towards graded exams.
Music lessons are part of the weekly timetable throughout the Prep School and hymns are practised weekly. Musical activities range from Jazz Bands to Fiddlers and include a range of choirs for different ages and a wonderful school orchestra. Termly informal concerts give pupils the opportunity to perform in public.
During the term, we offer inspiring instrumental and choral workshops. Our pupils come together for a day with other children from prep and primary schools under the instruction of professional musicians to work towards a performance for parents at the end of the day.
