Prep News Broadcasts

A new Journalism Club held twice a week will culminate in our first Ardingly Prep News broadcast before October half term. Over 70 children from years 5-8 are involved in various departments such as news, sport, entertainment and drama. As time goes on, we want to record the broadcast during the club and then it will be shown to the Prep School every Thursday afternoon form-time.
Bradley Baldwin in Year 8 interviewed Matt Dickinson for the News Channel. He asked Matt, ‘Where do you get the inspiration for your characters?’

To which Matt replied, ‘Real people, or a combination of real people and my imagination – I have to say real people are always the best material!’
Bradley described how it got easier to ask questions as the interview progressed.
‘I’m really enjoying the Journalism Club. We meet, discuss the news from our different departments and then two Year 8 pupils, assisted by staff, choose which stories we will cover. We have agreed it would be nicer to broadcast our news rather than print a newspaper.’
