Luca triumps at Charleston House ShortStorySLAM: The Moth

Ardingly students were the only young writers to offer their stories, all other contenders were adults, some of whom had travelled considerable distances to perform.

The event was made more difficult, as no notes were allowed, and the stories had to be delivered freely.

Luca Demetriadi and Madeleine Holder ditched their notes at a moment’s notice, and delivered two stunning stories – parts of which were made up on the spot!

When the judges came to pass verdict on the performances, it was a clean sweep for Ardingly! Madeleine was awarded a perfect 10 by one of the judges – the highest single score of the day – and Luca triumphed as the evening’s overall winner! Anyone who listened to his haunting story of being locked inside a racing car simulator in Crawley would have to agree that his win was very well deserved indeed!
