Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships:

Cross CountryOn Wednesday 18th January, Joseph Martin and Cameron Elder competed in the Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships. Joseph ran in the Intermediate/U17 race and covered a distance of 6,500m. He remained strong throughout and finished in 9th position. Cameron had to run 7,100m in the U20 race and came 10th overall. As a result of their performances they both qualified to compete for Sussex in the Inter-Counties which took place on Saturday 4th February at Brands Hatch. Both boys in their respective races proved to be valuable point scorers for Sussex as they finished within the top 6 out of 15 runners. Joseph was 6th in the Sussex team and 47th overall out of a field of 89 runners. Cameron was 5th in the Sussex team again out of 15 runners and 50th in a field of approximately 80.

Joseph has also recently heard that he’s been selected via his Club to represent Sussex in the Amateur Athletics Association cross country Championships. He is 1 of 8 athletes to be selected from each County across the country so we wish him luck with this forthcoming fixture.
