Evensong at Chichester

The Chapel Choir took their annual trip to our cathedral at Chichester, to sing Evensong, on the Feast of St Luke, Wednesday 18th October.

For such an early stage in the school year, the music chosen was ambitious, particularly Bainton’s sublime anthem ‘And I Saw a New Heaven’, but after an afternoon spent rehearsing in the cathedral, the choir led the service beautifully – one member of the congregation who lives in Chichester said that the Chapel Choir sang a lot more assuredly than the vast majority of visiting choirs.

The organ voluntary before the service began, a piece by Bach, was played quite beautifully by William Favier-Parsons (Shell). They all look forward to their next visit.
