Supporting Every Student

For some children, school life passes without incident. However, most children will experience some bumps in the road as they grow up. Friendship issues, academic anxiety, or concerns with self-esteem are among the challenges of teenage life.  With caring support from staff, friends and parents, they can be overcome. Such is the importance of pastoral support.

House Life

The House is the centre of School life for all our pupils. It is where they belong, where they build friendships and where they find a sense of community.  In their final school year, our students enjoy the benefits of coming together as a year group to live and work in a co-educational Upper Sixth House. This helps them to achieve success in their final year and become prepared for university life.

Personalised support

Every child has the support of a Housemaster or Housemistress, as well as a pastoral tutor who looks after their welfare and academic progress. Boarding pupils are supported by in-house matrons and a full-time Medical Centre.

A word from the inspectors

“Promoting the wellbeing of every pupil through personalised support lies at the heart of the school’s aims… Its mantra of ‘Nobody excels at everything but everybody can excel at something’ is applied in practice.”

“The House system and the excellent pastoral support from staff are major influences on the pupils’ excellent personal development.”
