Bug Hotel

Insects pollinate our fruit, flowers and vegetables while playing an essential role in the food chain as the main food source for many amphibians, birds, and mammals.
The Year 2 children constructed a ‘Bug Hotel’ to provide a safe haven for all manner of small creatures including bumble bees, ladybirds, butterflies and moths. They built the hotel from natural materials foraged from the Forest School woods, which allows insects to hibernate during the winter until springtime. The children made the hotel very cosy for its guests and then they helped to find a suitable place to put the hotel on a wall in the Pre-Prep School.
