Best ever performance at the National IAPS swimming Championships
19 May 2017
Ardingly Prep’s Year 7 and 8 girls produced a best ever performance by an Ardingly swim team in the National IAPS championships at the K2 in Crawley.
Over 4000 swimmers entered this competition and it was a great achievement in itself to make it to the finals. Amazingly our girls produced ‘PB’ times in EVERY event they were in.
The U12 medley relay team of Madison Lashbrook, Charlie Gale, Emily Thomas and Emily Ward finished 5th, the U13 Freestyle team of Isobel Charman,Vanessa Holder, Mimi Blockley and Helene Maurice-Jones finished 7th and beat the one minute barrier completing the race in 59.11 seconds.
Against teams from all over the country Madison Lashbrook came 10th, Helene Maurice Jones 7th and Charlie Gale 4th in their races.
The girls also met Olympic silver medallist Michael Jamieson who kindly posed for the photo and signed their programmes.
It was a long day but these girls were a pleasure to be with and they offer a great inspiration to our younger swimmers who are are hoping may one day emulate their achievements.
