Awesome Book Awards shortlisted titles for 2021

Ever since the launch of this Award in 2016, the Prep School’s Year 6 Book Group have joined hundreds of pupils from schools across London and the south east of England in reading, discussing and reviewing the five short-listed books, before casting their votes for their favourite. This year the challenge was extended to the WHOLE of Year 6.

The highlight every year for our young readers has always been attending the glittering award ceremony held at Cranleigh Prep, but sadly again this year because of Lockdown it had to be held virtually. However, a volume of celebratory cake was consumed and various rewards distributed during the screening to make up for it!

Prizes are also presented for the best review of each of the shortlisted books, and every year so far, we are proud to report that an Ardingly pupil has produced one of these five winning entries! This year it was Cameron Oliver for his wonderful review of the winning book Malamander. Cameron received a national book token to spend on books of his choice. The judges also awarded a special school commendation to Ardingly College for their “incredibly creative reviews, which were beautifully illustrated”. As a result, the Prep Library will receive a free set of the 2022 shortlist when it is announced in September
