Athletics at Eastbourne

The Ardingly College athletics team has travelled to Eastbourne for the first meet of the term in what promises to be a very good season. Ardingly finished first in twelve events, second in six and third in five and 21 personal bests were also achieved.
Girls’ performance
Sasha James was one of many outstanding performances, taking first place in the intermediate 200m sprint hurdles and high jump. Ornella Orfenov won the junior long jump, high jump and 100m. Aimee Fudge dominated her favourite 200m event, winning the junior race with a PB time of 25.68 seconds.
Boys’ performance
Alfie Baldock looked impressive, winning his 200m junior sprint, as did Evan Penlington and Preston Ng in the boys’ intermediate and senior long jump. Sean Tucker took first place in the senior javelin, with a throw of over 40 meters. He also enjoyed second place in the senior high jump and sprint hurdles.
Team Events
Ardingly finished the meet with superb team efforts, powering to victory in both the boys’ and girls’ junior 4 X 100m relays.
