We are very proud to announce that one of our female students at Ardingly College, Nicky Lautre has become Estonian champion in freestyle kitesurfing during the championship stages in September and October 2020. The event was held at one of the best freestyle spots in Estonia called Häädemeeste. The conditions were perfect: the water was shallow, the wind was light and Nicky landed all of her tricks.
Most of the competitors are men but Nicky rose to the challenge:
“ Kitesurfing is by far my favourite sport. Most people don’t like windy days, but for me, when it’s windy, I know it’s going to be a great day no matter the time of year. Whether it’s +20 degrees or freezing cold with snow, I’m pretty sure I’ll always be the first in the water and the last out. There’s no better feeling than having done a great freestyle session or a good big air session with 10+m jumps with very strong winds. I hope to get back to training with my coach again over the Christmas holidays and hopefully compete internationally in the coming years”
