Plenty of smiles all round at Ardingly College today as the school celebrates achieving the highest percentage of top grades in the school’s history.
26 delighted boys and girls achieved a clean sweep of grades between 9 and 7.
Proving again that co-education is no barrier to girls’ achievement, the girls excelled with 71% of their grades between 9 and 7.
Mr Ben Figgis Headmaster at Ardingly College was very pleased with the results:
“As the first cohort to sit the full complement of reformed GCSEs, this group of students has exceeded expectations.
The new GCSEs were designed to provide both challenge and recognition for the most able. With 20% of our cohort achieving the top grade 9 and 65% securing 9-7 (the old A*-A), our GCSE students this year have more than met the challenge.”
