ANZAC Commemoration

On Tuesday the 25th April we commemorated ANZAC Day, a day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) soldiers who fought in the First World War.

Our archives revealed two Old Ardinians who emigrated to Australia and joined the Australian Army when WWI broke out, Private William Hogben and Brigadier General Harold Pope. They both travelled to Gallipoli as part of the ANZAC Forces.

On ANZAC Day, we reflected on the contributions and sacrifices of their soldiers, to honour their memory, and to pay tribute to those who continue to serve.
