On Thursday morning, Ardingly College was delighted to welcome John Inverdale as a 'guest speaker' to their Careers Department to give a presentation to students. John, who will be a familiar face to all sports fans, has spent a lifetime working as a journalist and sports presenter and is currently hosting Grandstand for the BBC. He has presented many major sporting events including Wimbledon, the Olympic Games, World Cups (both Rugby and football), the Ryder Cup and Euro 96. Students from all years were welcome to the talk and were enraptured as John outlined his experience working as a sports journalist that has taken him from Bristol to Beijing.
Mark Harrison the Head of Careers commented that, "to bring a speaker of John Inverdale's stature to the college was such a bonus to our programme as he is able to give a real 'behind the scenes' insight into sports journalism. His presentation was simply superb and many students could not fail to be both impressed and inspired by his talk. Presentations of this kind are an essential element in our goal to support students and help them in formulating plans for their career and higher education options".
