VOCES8 Choral Day 2011
On Tuesday 11th October almost 300 children from Ardingly and seven local Primary and Prep Schools took part in the third Ardingly Choral day, the largest and most successful yet. As usual, the superb vocal ensemble VOCES8, Ardingly’s Musicians in Residence, inspired the students with their infectious enthusiasm and energy. Throughout the day, the pupils rehearsed a variety of songs, both together and individually, including John Rutter’s Gaelic Blessing, The Skye Boat Song and King Kong, culminating in a wonderful concert attended by over 150 parents.
Brian Dallimore from Holy Trinity, Cuckfield, who brought 90 children this year, said:
‘This is the second time we've taken part in a Choral Day with Voces8 at Ardingly and once again it was absolutely fantastic. It was a truly unique experience for the children to work with professional musicians, rehearsing and performing as part of a large group and in a stunning venue. I would like to extend huge thanks to both Voces8 and all the staff involved at Ardingly College.’
And other such enthusiastic responses have also followed:
‘Thank you very much for a wonderful day on Tuesday. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Handcross pupils, and they came away buzzing with enthusiasm. I do hope we will be able to come again next year.’
‘The VOCES guys are great as ever: it was such a privilege to have them work with our little group at St Peter's, and then really see that bearing fruit in the focus of our children through a long and hard-working afternoon. Such an inspiration!’
