Reception visit East Grinstead Fire Station
Reception visited East Grinstead Fire Station this week in conjunction with their topic on ‘people who help us'.
Fire fighter Sanderson and Fire fighter James showed the children a film simulating driving the fire engine through traffic. They then demonstrated how to put on the special clothing they wear and why they need it. Fire fighter Sanderson read a story about Frances the Firefly and why it is so important to never play with matches. There was quite a climb up into the appliance to sit in the crew cab! Outside, fire fighters were using cutting equipment on a car.
Their final experience was very exciting as each child took turns, wearing a real helmet, to use the hose to spray a cone, a car and quite often very nearly anyone passing by!!
They had a great time and learnt so much. Thank you to you all at the fire station.
