Art Exhbition

Every child in the Pre-Prep and Prep had a piece of work on display. Many children enjoyed the thrill of finding their own work and then showing it to others. The high standard of work was commented on by many of the visitors and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to see work from across the year groups.

The Pre-Prep had some wonderful self portraits, life drawings, sewing collages and prints and the Prep displayed the specific projects they have been working on.

Year 3 – Ancient Greek Clay Pots. This links to the work they did in History studying the ancient Greeks.

Year 4 – Aboriginal Stories – These are using the Australian Aboriginal technique of dot painting and symbols to tell an Aboriginal story.

Applique Symbols – Applique squares of felt with embroidery on them. Inspired by African Adinkra symbols.

Aboriginal Animals – Inspired by Australian Aboriginal “skeleton drawing” and Aboriginal symbols.

Year 5 – Hymn Book Covers – Pictures were drawn of the Chapel and interesting details in it. We also looked at illuminated lettering and brought it all together to inspire a hymn book cover design using flat lines and a limited palette of colour.

Year 6 – Still Life – done in mixed media over several weeks from direct observation. Props for the Year 6 Drama Production - made collaboratively in groups using lots of different materials. Inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and used in their play “Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations” during a scene where the hero reads a book.

Year 7 – William Morris Printmaking – Using designs inspired by William Morris and drawing of natural forms from direct observation.

Year 8 – Autobiography – Mixed media collage based on themselves and their interests.
