Musical Successes Dec 2009
Two Ardingly music scholars have excelled themselves on a national level, with 14-year-old Seth Fleming winning a place in the National Youth Wind Band and 11-year-old Maya Saxena winning a place in the National Children’s Orchestra. As well as playing the saxophone, Seth learns the organ and piano. Maya joins the violin section of the orchestra and plays on an historic Testore violin which is on loan to her. She also plays the trumpet, piano and voice.
Mid-Sussex Competitive Music Festival 2009
A large number of pupils from Ardingly College achieved great success in the this year's Mid-Sussex Festival. Competing against pupils from all over Sussex they were awarded 13 first, 7 second and 6 third places. The following pupils went on to win cups for being the overall winner in their specific category:
Olivia Bell - The Haywards Heath Operatic Society Cup and The St Cecilia Cup;
Luka Bankovich – The Doris Hunter Cup;
Mary Reader – The Horsted Keynes Cup;
Alexander Bliss - The Catherine Burton Cup. This was a staggering achievement and our congratulations go to all the pupils who entered, performed and represented Ardingly College so well.
