Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award Training Expedition
A very successful Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition took place during the last week of the Easter break: 24 brave students walked a distance of 30 miles (48k) over the three days, with the longest walk taking place on the Saturday. On this day, half the group walked from their campsite on Plumpton racecourse up to the Southdowns, over Ditchling Beacon and Devil's Dyke, finally finishing at Bramber/Upper Beeding High Street, while the other half did the same journey but in reverse.
Battling with blisters, sore feet, sore shoulders, aching backs and hot sunshine, some students relied on their strength of character to pull them through the last stages of the expedition. Everyone was successful and now having completed the practice, they are all looking forward to the assessment later in the term.
