Ardingly College is hailed as one of the UK's top performing IB schools
We have been described as one of the UK's top performing IB schools, coming 9th out of 217 UK IB Diploma schools in the league table compiled by specialists in education.
This year at Ardingly we have had our best ever IB results and our students attained an average point score of 36.1 out of a possible 45 points. As a result of this major success we have been described as one of the UK's top performing IB schools, coming 9th out of 217 UK IB Diploma schools in the league table compiled by specialists in education and found at http://www.baccalaureate.eu.com/LeagueTables.asp We are competing with, and indeed surpassing, some of the most selective schools in the country. The Headmaster Peter Green said: "At Ardingly we are not the biggest fans of school league tables. We know they don't tell the whole story. With that caveat, though, we are extremely proud to learn that our IB results put Ardingly College at 9th place in the UK school rankings. All credit to Ardingly's students and staff."
As the Headmaster points out, statistics are not everything. The IB at Ardingly is about encouraging students to be intellectual risk-takers, to balance independence of thought with open-mindedness and to develop self-discipline and care for others. Some of those students who have really stood out are those whose achievement in terms of grades is modest but whose personal development has been exponential. The Ardingly IB experience prepares students for an increasingly complex, globally connected and rapidly changing world. I doubt any parent sees the education of their daughter or son as simply about getting good grades, but it is tremendously affirming to see that our IB results have been so good, and this is vital for students applying for university.
